Clackamas River Ranger District to host open house
By Heather Ibsen, Mt. Hood National Forest
Staff of the Clackamas River Ranger District invite all to an open house event from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, in the Flora Room of the Estacada Library, 825 N.W. Wade St.
Everyone who visits or has an interest in the southwest part of Mt. Hood National Forest is welcome to attend.
Forest staff from wildfire, recreation, natural resource management, and other areas will be on hand to share current work and what’s in store for this year, as well as to answer any questions. There is no formal program, so folks are invited to show up anytime during the open house.
The Clackamas River Ranger District covers over 400,000 acres on the western side of Mt. Hood National Forest. The District includes numerous wilderness areas, wild and scenic rivers, popular lakes, and many campgrounds and trails. It provides drinking water for over 300,000 people, produces hydropower for local homes, and provides our communities with wood products such as plywood, dimensional lumber, and firewood. It’s also a popular area for fishing, hunting, mushroom collecting, and finding a Christmas tree.
