Throughout the month of March, our community will come together for a series of fundraising events designed to raise awareness and critical support for Sandy's Meals on Wheels program. As part of this multifaceted campaign, the March for Meals Dinner & Bingo Night stands out as a fun and meaningful way to make a difference while enjoying an evening of food, games, and connection!
On Friday, March 13, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., the Sandy Community Center will host the March for Meals Dinner & Bingo Night fundraiser. This special event invites community members to join together in support of local seniors while enjoying a lively and welcoming atmosphere. It is an opportunity to turn compassion into action — one Bingo card and taco at a time.
Guests will be treated to a delicious taco bar dinner generously sponsored by Taqueria El Jaliscience. Their support highlights the strong local partnerships that make community programs like Meals on Wheels possible. Sharing a meal together sets the tone for the evening, reminding us of the importance of nourishment — not only for the body, but also for the spirit.
Following dinner, participants will enjoy four exciting games of Bingo, with a variety of prizes up for grabs, including movie tickets, candy baskets, pizza, and more. Whether you are a seasoned Bingo player or simply looking for a fun night out, the event promises laughter and friendly competition for all ages to enjoy!
Advance registration is required due to limited space. Registration opened February 13, and community members are encouraged to reserve their seat by calling (503) 668-5569. Tickets are $25 per person, with a reduced rate of $15 for youth ages 12 and under.
The Dinner & Bingo Night is just one part of our broader March campaign, as the Sandy Senior Center continues raising funds and awareness throughout the month. Every dollar raised supports the delivery of nutritious meals and the personal connections that are so vital to the well-being of our seniors.
The Sandy Community and Senior Center has proudly served Meals on Wheels for over 30 years. During that time, the program has become a lifeline for many older adults in our area. Just last year, we helped nearly 100 local homebound seniors meet their nutritional needs, serving approximately 11,000 meals. These numbers are more than just statistics, they represent our neighbors who rely on this essential service. Through Meals on Wheels, vulnerable seniors receive more than just a nutritious meal. They also gain regular check-ins and a meaningful human interaction that enriches their lives and helps them remain independent in their own homes.
