SAT celebrates 50 years, raises funds for future with gala
By Brit Allen, The Sandy Standard
To commemorate 50 years of volunteer-led community theatre, Sandy Actors Theatre will host a gala from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at the theatre, 17433 S.E. Meinig Ave., Sandy.
SAT started out in 1976 as Sandy Community Players and after a time became Sandy Actors Theatre. Since then they’ve provided countless hours of theatre to the Sandy community, as well as a space for thespians to practice their craft on a local stage.
The evening will feature a 50/50 raffle, a silent auction, and a preview of the upcoming season with select staged readings from each play.
Those interested in attending are encouraged to RSVP at punchbowl.com/parties/88e0959264fb5c8150e6.
The 2026-2027 season will also serve as an homage to the history of SAT, with every play being a reprise of something performed sometime during those 50 years.
The season is set to include:
- “Cahoots” by Rick Johnson from Sept. 25-Oct. 11.
- “It’s a Wonderful Life: A Radio Play” by Luxe Radio Theater from Nov. 27-Dec. 13
- “Love Letters” by A.R. Gurney from Feb. 12-28
- “Harvey” by Mary Chase from April 30-May 16
