An upcoming event will be a hole in one for the Sandy and Estacada communities.
The Sandy Lions Club and the Hull Foundation Foundation and Learning Center are partnering to host the Jack White Memorial Golf Tournament Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Mountain View Golf Course.
The tournament is named for longtime Estacada Lions Club member Jack White, one of the event’s original organizers when it began in 2012.
The Lions Club is a volunteer organization dedicated to projects focused on health, wellness, and community building, and the Hull Foundation provides recreational and educational opportunities for people with blindness and sight loss. “Oral Hull and the Lions Club have the same type of mission,” said Tawni Copher, operations manager for the Hull Foundation and past president of the Sandy Lions Club.
The Estacada Lions Club merged with the Sandy chapter in 2024, and the group supports both communities. Proceeds from the golf tournament will help fund school vision screenings, eyeglasses and hearing aid assistance, local food pantry donations, and ongoing facility and program support for the Hull Foundation.

The two groups often work together, recently partnering on a bunco fundraiser for the Hull Foundation. The golf tournament did not occur last year because of the closure of the Eagle Creek Golf Course, and Copher is happy to see the event return. “The money goes a long way. We try to see where we can put the funds to help out the community. Our motto is ‘we serve.’ We try to do as much community work as we can,” she said.
Registration for the golf tournament closes on Monday, July 6. The cost is $600 for a four-person team. Checks can be made out to Hull Foundation and Learning Center or HFLC, and mailed to PO Box 157, Sandy.
Donations for the tournament’s silent auction will be accepted through Friday, July 17, with food-related gift baskets accepted through Friday, July 31.
