# What’s Happening at Oral Hull Park?

The Hull Foundation and Learning Center is a 501(c)(3) whose mission is to provide programs, facilities, and services including social, educational, and recreational programs for people with blindness, and they’re starting 2026 with major improvements.

A significant grant from the Idealistic Cause Foundation recently allowed the organization to complete several long-needed repairs at Oral Hull Park. The funding covered the replacement of broken windows, septic system repairs, repairs to a cracked windshield and worn tires on Foundation vehicles — essential for safely transporting blind guests. The grant also made it possible to restore the ADA pool lift for the indoor heated pool, a repair that staff and guests have been anticipating for some time. According to the Foundation, these improvements will directly support program safety, accessibility, and overall guest experience.

The Foundation is also expanding its fundraising efforts this year with a renewed focus on community participation. On April 18, Hull Foundation and Learning Center will host a community yard sale, inviting residents who lack space for their own sale to set up on the park grounds for a $25 donation. Presale tickets are now available for the Annual Tea Party on May 30, a long-standing favorite among supporters. On August 1, the Foundation will partner for the first time with the Sandy Lions Club to host a golf tournament at Mt. View Golf Course in Boring.

Funds raised through these events support both the Foundation’s facilities and its programs, which serve as a vital resource for adults with sight loss. In 2026, the organization plans to offer five educational seminars covering mobility, accessible technology, arts and hobbies, cooking, and daily living skills. Two retreats are scheduled as well, including the popular Adventure Retreat, which features activities such as white-water rafting, ziplining, and jet boating. The Foundation is also working to revive its One Day Fun Day program, offering local outings such as escape rooms, beach trips, and visits to Oaks Park. For those unable to travel, the Foundation continues to provide free Zoom workshops and a monthly newsletter.

Low vision assessments are available at Oral Hull Park, conducted by a retired low vision specialist from the Oregon Commission for the Blind. If a device we have — such as a lighted magnifier, CCTV, or large-print pill organizer — is determined to be helpful, guests may take it home at no cost.

The Hull Foundation and Learning Center relies heavily on volunteers and donors to maintain its grounds, support events, and expand its programs.
