Besides hosting multiple monthly networking programs and the well-loved annual Sandy Music Fair and Feast event, the Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce also facilitates several programs to serve the community, especially through its Career & Education Committee.

The Career & Education Committee facilitates programs like Principal for a Day, which sends business leaders into Oregon Trail schools to shadow principals and see the accomplishments and challenges they face; they also work with the schools to go on CTE classroom tours, and facilitate Thrive at 25, where Chamber members help teach students the cost of living as a 25-year-old in their potential field.

“I get excited every year to share with a new class,” said Executive Director Khrys Jones of Thrive at 25. “I love seeing the realizations students have. I think it also brings a greater appreciation for their parents.”

This past year the Chamber also raised some funds for scholarships for Sandy High students through their Camo Con event.

“This is one of our strongest committees,” explained Jones. (It supports) our future business leaders.”

Any chamber member can join the committee, which meets once a month for an hour.
