On Saturday, June 27, 2025, community members will gather at Sandy Bluff Park for Noah’s Quest, a community run and walk that honors families who have experienced the loss of a child, those facing fertility challenges, and the friends, family members, and supporters who stand beside them.
The event begins at 8:00 a.m. and includes a 1K Kiddie Run, a 5K Walk, and a 5K Run. Participants of all ages and abilities are encouraged to attend, whether they choose to run, walk, volunteer, or simply support the event.
Organizer Carol Cohen says, “Noah’s Quest is intended to provide an opportunity for community connection while also raising awareness and support for families navigating pregnancy and infant loss.”
Noah’s Quest is held in partnership with Brief Encounters, a local organization that provides support and resources for families experiencing pregnancy and infant loss. Through outreach and peer support, the organization works to connect families with others who share similar experiences.
The event has continued to grow over the years and has become an important annual gathering for many local families and supporters. In addition to the races, the event creates an opportunity for community members to come together in a positive and supportive environment.
Race packets, which include custom sports socks and additional event goodies, may be picked up on Friday, June 26, at the Sandy Community and Senior Center from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Packets will also be available during the opening ceremony on race morning beginning at 8:00 a.m.
Organizers note that the event will take place rain or shine, unless extreme weather conditions require cancellation. In the event of a cancellation, entry fees will be donated to Brief Encounters to help continue its support programs and services.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in a raffle featuring a two-night stay at a home in Astoria. Raffle tickets will be available both in advance and during the event, and each participant will receive one complimentary raffle ticket in their goody bag. Participants must be present during the drawing to win.
Organizers encourage community members to come out and support the event, whether by participating in one of the races or simply attending to cheer on participants and learn more about the organizations involved. Noah’s Quest continues to serve as both a community event and a way to support families throughout Sandy and the surrounding region.
